French tableware in India: dinnerware, glassware and serving sizes

Choose French tableware for a home in India: plates, bowls and glassware, with checks for capacity, pack quantities, care and fragile delivery.

Build the setting around your meal

For a family table or reception in India, start with portions and guest numbers. A plate’s diameter is not the whole story: check usable surface, depth and room for serving dishes. Small bowls can suit accompaniments, but their capacity should match what you actually serve.

Ceramics and glass can complement each other without forming an identical dinner service. A Jars plate, La Rochère bowl and restrained table linen let you compare textures. Validate one complete place setting before increasing quantities.

Single item, set and capacity: read the reference

The Troquet box featured here contains four small cups with different patterns. It is not a set of six or a collection of mugs. Check each reference’s contents rather than the photo alone: a cup, saucer, lid or accessory may be sold separately.

For coffee, tea or desserts, compare stated capacity with your habits. An espresso-sized cup may not suit a large serving of tea. Record units per pack and possible replacement pieces before building a service.

Care and delivery of fragile pieces

Care instructions should come from the exact model’s specification. Dishwasher guidance for one cup does not apply to every object from that maker and does not establish oven suitability. Avoid sudden temperature changes and inspect pieces before first use.

For international delivery, ask about protection for glass and ceramics, parcel count and breakage handling. Presentation packaging and transport packaging serve different purposes. Do not assume the gift box replaces protective shipping materials.

Keep the shopping list easy to extend

Separate everyday use from special occasions: individual settings, serving pieces, drinks and desserts. A short list with model, colour, quantity and capacity is more useful than an unplanned basket. For a restaurant or hotel, also consider storage, washing routines and replenishment.

  • Measure plates and the storage space available.
  • Compare capacities and the exact contents of each pack.
  • Confirm packaging, care and replacement arrangements.

Common questions

Can an espresso gift set serve every hot drink?

No. Match capacity and shape to the drink, and follow the maker’s use and care instructions.

Can I add to a dinner service later?

That depends on model and colour availability. Keep references and check replenishment terms before a large order.
