French craft for hotels in India: an interiors sourcing checklist

For hotels, restaurants and designers in India: plan French pieces around samples, quantities, care, packaging and replacement arrangements.

Write a brief for each space

A hospitality project needs more than attractive objects. Separate reception, restaurant, bedrooms and bathrooms: each has a purpose, cleaning routine and constraints. A piece for a suite may need different precautions from a glass used several times every day.

For a Jaipur boutique hotel, Mumbai restaurant or Bengaluru residence, describe real use rather than collecting luxury references. Room numbers, place settings, dimensions, requested date and the person approving samples should be part of the brief.

Approve a sample before committing to volume

Order or reserve a representative sample before planning a rollout. Check colour under the venue’s light, stability, handling and storage. A photo does not reveal the felt weight of a filled pitcher or how tableware actually stacks.

For handcrafted finishes, ask what variation to expect between pieces. Keep the approved sample’s photograph and exact reference. Define whether a colour or format substitution is acceptable for later replenishment.

Plan care and replacements

Have the teams using the products read the care guidance. A textile requiring a specific treatment should not be assigned to an arbitrary washing routine. Durability and professional-use suitability need confirmation for the reference rather than inference from the brand.

Plan replacement quantities around actual use and observed breakage instead of a universal percentage. Ask for price, lead time and minimum order for individual pieces. Current availability does not guarantee identical replenishment several years later.

Compare the project cost, not just the object

Request quantities, packaging, transport, insurance and receipt terms for the Indian address to be itemised. Any formalities and additional charges need confirmation from the relevant parties before commitment; a European price alone is not a delivered budget.

Lumodom helps create a shortlist and frame questions for makers or sellers. A reference shown on the site is not a stock reservation, commercial appointment or delivery guarantee. Keep the quotation and acceptance criteria in the project file.

  • A separate space brief and exact reference for every piece.
  • Approved samples before volume, with care guidance shared.
  • Written terms for receipt, breakage and replenishment.

Common questions

Is a decorative object automatically suitable for a hotel?

No. Frequency of use, cleaning, safety and stability need checks for the model and its placement.

Does Lumodom guarantee stock for a professional order?

No. Availability and commercial terms need a quotation for the requested references and quantities.
